I was listening to a sermon the other day and the preacher was talking about the old saying of the grass being greener somewhere else. Why is it that the grass seems greener over there or during that period in history? His answer, because they water their grass!
I started thinking more deeply about this grass being greener simply because someone took the time to water it. But beautiful lawns don't just happen. They have to be fertilized and weeded. So I thought, how does this relate to success?
Successful people don't just install automatic sprinklers and think they do not have to do anything else. They don't just put it on automatic, they invest in their projects and goals and dreams. Successful people weed out negativity and discouragement. Sure, they get discouraged- they just don't dwell on it. When an obstacle or a set back occurs, they weed it out as quickly as possible, before it has a chance to grow deep roots, take hold, spread and multiply. This is what stops most people from reaching their goals and realizing their dreams.
But successful people weed out these things and quickly fertilize their goal or dream with positive thoughts, quick action and new ideas or methods. They persevere! Successful people will not allow any brown spots on their green grass of success. Unsuccessful people allow many brown spots and dead areas in their lives. When a sprinkler breaks, they don't bother to fix it. They let adversity and discouragement kill off another dream or goal.
Successful people are so in tuned to their goal or dream that even when all sprinklers are watering their green grass of success, if they notice even one tiny area of their dream or goal turning brown and starting to die, they get out water hose of determination and vision, and water that area by hand to keep their dream alive!
